New website brings together key resources

We are proud to be part of the relaunch of My Community;  a website that helps local people find support and take positive community action. Along with eleven other community sector organisations – Locality, Power to Change, the Plunkett Foundation, Semble and Coops UK – we have brought their most popular tools and resources together in one place to make it easier for people to act on the issues they care about.

It launches at a time when 68% of UK adults say they want to continue supporting their local community after the COVID-19 crisis – but people want more resources to help them connect at the community level.

Online platforms have been a crucial way for communities to communicate with each other and mobilise responses to the pandemic. However, there have also been cases of people not knowing where to go for support or not believing there are sufficient community resources in their area.

The My Community platform aims to help people access the information they need about the support options available from a trusted source. By providing clear guidance and advice, it also encourages people to come together with others in their community to take action.

The website is designed for anyone interested in getting involved in their neighbourhood; from those who are new to community projects to more seasoned community activists. With everything from funding sources to community-led housing and parks, the website covers a huge range of topics and be of use and also inspiration.

We are looking forward to seeing the difference this will make to communities across the country and we hope it will help maintain community momentum beyond COVID-19.
