As partnerships approach the end of their Big Local funding, many are looking at financial sustainability for their legacy plans. This could be through identifying sources of funding or income, or by increasing skills and knowledge in fundraising, bid writing or in securing commissions to deliver services.
Other areas may be looking for matched funding to deliver a key project as part of their Big Local plan.
As a Big Local partnership, you can access bespoke support from our fundraising partners to get help with things like:
We have a number of partners who offer support on fundraising and income generation, depending on the specific need of the area. Areas will be matched with one of these partners depending on what their local needs are.
Our lead partner, Stir to Action, is a national co-operative infrastructure body who focus on strategic economic development projects; bridging the gap between policy and practice; and ensuring the new economy is more diverse and representative.
Through their training and capacity-building programmes, they support the growth of democratic business in a range of sectors, including community regeneration.

As Big Local Central Jarrow approached close out, they contacted us for support to secure funding for their legacy organisation. This funding was needed to support the future salary costs of a Community Engagement Worker and meet additional costs associated with extending their activities into evenings and weekends.
One of the partnership’s key challenges is that their new organisation has a limited financial track record, which may stop funders investing in them. Stir to Action supported them by getting advice from other organisations with a similar experience, including Greenmoor Big Local. Greenmoor Big Local provided these top tips:
